Assistance League Diablo Valley Expands Caring and Commitment

Prior to the Assistance League Diablo Valley September 13th Regular Meeting, VP Operation School Bell Programs Carol Parkhurst introduced Beth Bottorff, who has served the Foster Care Community Contra Costa County in such capacities as Supervisor at the East County Receiving Center, Staff Development Specialist for Children and Family Services and Trainer with the Foster Kinship Care Education Programs for the past 20 years.

Ms. Bottorff explained that the recently created Foster Kinship Care Education approach is far reaching, in that it accommodates not only the client. Foster Kinship encompasses the client’s family dynamic, court involvement, support challenges and case number overloads. Likewise, the Foster Kinship Care Education Programs interfaces with the Foster Independent Living Skills Program which provides educational, residential and career opportunities support.

As with Assistance League’s hands-on philanthropic programs, the Employment and Human Services Department of Contra Costa County’s outreach programs are a result of extensive needs assessment and diligent implementation.
