In response to Contra Costa County's, as well as thrift shop staffers' and customers' concerns, thank you for wearing a mask.

The innovative and creative member volunteers at the Assistance League Thrift Shop at the Way Side Inn, located in Lafayette, have launched yet another event for your shopping convenience. It’s The Hand Crafted Items event. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 31 and be the first ones at the door, which opens and 10:00 a.m. and closes at 3:00 p.m. This cavalcade of creativity concludes Saturday, September 4, subject to inventory availability, of course.

Thank you, chapter members, as well as your families and friends, for helping Assistance League of Diablo Valley’s mission statement, “…improving lives in our community through hands-on programs,” become a reality.

Discerning shoppers, let these talents grace your homes with such unique items as jewelry, quilts and quilted items, glass accoutrements, mosaics, trivets, wood cutting boards and bowls, birdhouses and succulent arrangements.

As for the signature piece, the soup cozy, for you to enjoy the warmth of family recipes, burn free! But why settle for one when you can have a varied collection? These individualized creations would make fabulous holiday and/or hostess gifts, especially during the frosty temps.

While most of the items listed are new, a few previously owned but gently used treasures will be sprinkled throughout the shop. As always, thank you for your generous donations and purchases. To learn more, please visit: assistanceleague.org/diablo-valley.
