Assistance League Thrift Shop’s Handcrafted Event Approaches
The Handcrafted Event helps fund 16 Hands-on programs.

The dedicated member volunteers at Assistance League® Thrift Shop at the Way Side Inn, in Lafayette, are busily preparing for the Handcrafted Event that begins Tuesday, June 21, at 10 a.m. and concludes Saturday, June 25.
Two items capture the spirit of renewing and reusing an artifact germane to the American Landscape, the quilt. One creation, a 100 year-old hand stitched and embroidered pink quilt accommodates a double sized bed and is priced at $400. The other, similar in construction but white in color, is priced at $600. Donated by a quilter’s grandson, both items reflect their age yet are in excellent condition.
Garden Art, an innovative treatment, utilizes components from various sources. In the provided photograph, the mosaic influence is obvious, as is its function as a stepping stone. Since 1998, one Assistance League member of long standing (no pun intended) has blended colorful items made of earthen matter. Her experience in Garden Art includes classes and consignment work.
