Seasonal & Holidays

Bridging Generations With the Spirit of Giving

Beacon Home Care sponsors annual Generation Gift 2014, delivering handcrafted gifts made by local children straight to the Elderly community

The Generation Gift Program is a holiday event sponsored by Beacon Home Care, a local company that provides non-medical home care to the elderly in the Bay Area.

During this season of giving, the children of Stay & Play Preschool handcrafted holiday ornaments with the intention of donating them to the residents at Hillcrest Terrace Senior Housing in Antioch, Lone Tree Convalescent Hospital, Antioch Convalescent
Hospital, Danville Rehabilitation, Kindred Walnut Creek, Manor Care Health Services, and Windsor Manor.

“Teaching compassion is a community effort,” said Beacon Home Care’s Vianney Mendoza. “Bridging the gap between generations during this holiday season not only will bring joy to deserving seniors, but reminds our children of the true giving spirit of the season.”

The support and efforts of the children, their parents, family
members, the Beacon Home Care staff and the staff at Stay & Play
Preschool brought in more than 350 completed ornaments to be donated to local seniors, in addition to keepsake photos of the ornament making events.

The ornaments were delivered to both the residents and convalescing seniors by efforts made through local High Schoolers and adult volunteers.

“The best gifts in life can’t be bought with money,” said Antioch
resident Grace Soliven. “The holidays are all about gratitude, family, and promoting good will. This program is a welcome counterpart to the frenzied commercialization of Christmas.”

Beacon Home Care is a Bay Area provider of non-medical home care services that help adults and seniors maintain their independence, age in place, and provide peace of mind for them and their loved ones.
