A 19-time DownBeat Critics Poll honoree and the 2021 Rising Star Electric Bass winner, Jeff Denson is known for his rare ability to combine a warm, expressive voice with a masterful presence on bass.

Described by the San Francisco Chronicle as a “master of the jazz bass,” Jeff has released 16 albums as a leader or co-leader and has performed at major venues and festivals across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. He has also collaborated with artists including Brian Blade, Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, Mike Stern, and Terri Lyne Carrington.

Jeff shared a close musical relationship with legendary saxophonist Lee Konitz for more than a decade. Konitz called him “an exceptional musician” and “a creative force on the double bass.”
