Chevron Evacuates American Oil Workers From Iraq
The company announced Monday that it had pulled American employees from the Kurdistan Region as a precautionary measure.
SAN RAMON, CA — Chevron announced Monday that it had pulled all American oil field workers from its facility in the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq as a precaution, CNN reported.
The evacuation comes after the U.S. urged citizens to flee the area amid escalating tensions between the two countries, according to CNN. The U.S. killed well-known Iranian military chief Qasem Soleimani in an airstrike on Baghdad last week and the country vowed revenge.
"The safety of our people and facilities is Chevron's top priority globally," an unnamed Chevron spokeswoman told CNN.
