Citizen Tip Leads To San Ramon Arrest Of Milpitas Man

SAN RAMON, CA — Police in San Ramon have arrested a 24-year-old Milpitas man on suspicion of grand theft, drugs, and other charges following a tip by a citizen. Jerard Collie was picked up around 10 a.m. Saturday on Iron Horse Trail near California High School after a citizen called police to report a "suspicious man hunched over" near the campus, according to the SRPD.
When police arrived, they found the man—later identified as Collie—riding a skateboard on the on the trail near Montevideo Drive, according to Captain Denton Carlson of the SRPD. "Officers believed Mr. Collie was under the influence of drugs and also learned, through Mr. Collie's admission, that he was on probation," Carlson said.
When questioned further, Collie admitted to possessing drug paraphernalia, according to Carlson. During a search, officers found drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, and stolen property; the property was stolen from a vehicle in the same area on July 5, according to Carlson.

Collie also had an outstanding $5,000 warrant held by San Francisco County for violations associated with a theft-related case, the captain said.
In addition to the warrant, Collie was booked on suspicion of grand theft, possession of stolen property, probation violation, possession of a narcotic, and possession of a controlled substance.
