2021 California Gubernatorial (Governor) Recall Election at a Glance

  • Ballots for the 2021 California Gubernatorial (Governor) Recall Election have been mailed by Contra Costa County, as of August 16, 2021. You can still register online to vote until August 30, 2021, and receive a ballot in the mail.
  • After August 30, 2021, you can register to vote using Conditional Voter Registration. The voter registration deadline is 15 days prior to Election Day (September 14, 2021). However, after that deadline and through Election Day you can still register and vote in person using Conditional Voter Registration. It is a one-stop opportunity to register and cast your ballot, and is available at Contra Costa County Elections office, Regional Early Voting sites, and all polling places on Election Day.
  • You have several secure options for returning your ballot: mail, drop box, or in person at your voting location, polling place, or county elections office.
  • There are four (4) secure ballot drop box locations in San Ramon (2 indoor, 2 outdoor):
    • San Ramon City Hall (7000 Bollinger Canyon Road) – indoor (Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
    • Alcosta Senior and Community Center (9300 Alcosta Boulevard) – indoor (Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
    • Dougherty Station Community Center (17011 Bollinger Canyon Rd) – outdoor (24 hours a day, closes September 14, 2021 at 8:00 p.m.)
    • San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd) – outdoor (24 hours a day, closes September 14, 2021 at 8:00 p.m.
  • In-person voting takes place on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 7 a.m.– 8 p.m. To vote in person, find your local polling place, view a complete list of regional early voting locations in Contra Costa County, or view information on voting at the Contra Costa County Elections Office, click here.
