New and Re-elected City Council Members Sworn In

Newly elected and re-elected members of the San Ramon City Council were sworn in at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 13.
Mayor David E. Hudson was re-elected for a second term. Councilmember Mark Armstrong, who was appointed to the Council in January 2021, was elected to a new term, along with newly-elected Councilmember Marisol Rubio. Vice Mayor Sridhar Verose and Councilmember Scott Perkins continue their terms on the San Ramon City Council.
City Council Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, at San Ramon City Hall (7000 Bollinger Canyon Road), and streamed live on YouTube. Meeting agendas are posted 72 hours before each meeting at the San Ramon Agenda Portal. To receive meeting notices and agendas via email, click here.
Bishop Ranch Chevron Park Study Session
On September 28, Sunset Development announced the purchase of Chevron’s 92-acre, 1.3-million-square-foot “Chevron Park” campus in Bishop Ranch off Bollinger Canyon Road.
On December 6, as part of the regular Planning Commission Meeting, a Study Session was held to gather input on the former Chevron Park property (DMU South).
The project concept includes the following:
- 125,000 square feet of mixed-used retail and entertainment
- 1,250 apartments
- 1,000 homes and condominiums
- Central Park, pocket parks and open space
- Buffer to south of development
- Transit center
There will be multiple opportunities for the public to participate throughout this process. Opportunities for public input will be added to the linked page below as they are scheduled.

Applications Open for Government 101 - Spring 2023 Session
Apply by Friday, January 13
Applications are now open for San Ramon's Spring 2023 Government 101 class!
Hosted by the City Clerk's Office, this free, eight-session class is designed to enhance residents’ understanding of local government.
The class includes in-depth sessions on each City department, from Parks to Public Works to Police, and how they work together to provide community services. Topics covered include San Ramon history, economic development, infrastructure, special events, volunteer opportunities, and more. Sessions are held in different City facilities, based on the presenting department.
The class concludes with a formal recognition of participants at a City Council meeting.
Classes will be held on Mondays from 6:30–9 p.m. starting on February 23, 2023, and will run for eight weeks.
The class is free but space is limited—and it fills up fast! Learn more and apply by January 13, 2023 at the link below.
Letters to Santa: Mailbox Open Until 5 p.m. Today (Thu, Dec 15)!
The City of San Ramon has a special red mailbox and the letter are delivered directly to the North Pole. Write Santa a letter and you will receive a reply from Santa Claus himself!
Santa's red mailbox is located in the lobby of San Ramon City Hall (7000 Bollinger Canyon Road). Parents will receive the original letter back, and Santa will send his reply directly to the child. You can choose to have your child write a letter themselves, or fill out this Santa Letter form. Please be sure to print your child's name and address so Santa can reply.
All letters must be received by 5 p.m. today (Thursday, December 15). The letter from Santa will be mailed by Tuesday, December 20.
San Ramon Symphonic Band Holiday Festival Concert

Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center
Enjoy a San Ramon holiday tradition with the Symphonic Band's Holiday Festival Concert at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center (10550 Albion Road)! The band will play holiday classics, and the concert is a great way to get in the holiday spirit with the entire family. Don't get left out in the cold for this special concert—advance purchase of tickets is strongly recommended.

Sunday, December 18 at 2 p.m.

Enjoy a concert filled with festive cheer as the San Ramon Community Chorus sings your holiday favorites on Sunday, December 18 at 2 p.m. at the San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd). The FREE concert will also feature local dance groups!

Holiday Tree Collection Options
ACI of San Ramon & Boy Scouts
Holiday tree collection is available to San Ramon residents through ACI of San Ramon, or the Boy Scouts, in January 2023.
Boy Scouts:
The Boy Scouts' annual holiday tree pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2023. The suggested donation is $10. Click here to reserve your pick-up. Please click here for more information.
ACI of San Ramon – Single family residents:
ACI of San Ramon will collect trees curbside on your regular collection day during the week of January 9–13, 2023.
- Collection will be done using a special truck that may service your block much earlier or much later than the regular trucks
- Please remove all lights, decorations, tinsel and the tree stand before placing your tree out next to your carts
- Trees over 6 feet tall should be cut in half
- Please do not place the tree in any type of plastic wrap or bag
- Small trees may be placed inside your organics cart if you prefer; just be sure to cut it into small pieces that won’t get stuck in the cart, and make sure the lid will fully close
- Flocked trees cannot be composted and will be collected as garbage
- Artificial trees cannot be collected through this program. Please contact ACI to arrange for a special collection
ACI of San Ramon – Multifamily tenants:
ACI of San Ramon will collect holiday trees from multi-family complexes during the month of January. Clean green trees will be composted. Contact your property manager - some complexes will have a centralized "tree box," and others will have a designated tree collection zone.
- Please do not block access to your collection containers
- Remove all decorations, lights, and the stand
- Cut tree in half if taller than 6 feet
- Please do not place tree in any type of plastic wrap or bag
- Small trees may be placed inside your green organics bin/cart if you prefer. Please cut into small pieces that won’t get stuck in the bin/cart and make sure the lid will fully close
- Flocked trees accepted, but will not be composted. Artificial trees not accepted. Please contact ACI for collection options.

Help Rename the Dougherty Station Community Center
The City of San Ramon is requesting suggestions for renaming the building and interior rooms of Dougherty Station Community Center to reflect the arts focus of the facility.
Complete the survey below by Monday, January 9 at 5 p.m. The Parks and Community Services Commission will receive resident feedback and make the final determination on the naming of the building and rooms.
All names must follow the City's Facility, Park, and Trail Naming Policy.
San Ramon's Micromobility Pilot Program, in Partnership with Bird

The City of San Ramon has launched a new micromobility pilot program, in partnership with Bird Rides, Inc. The shared electric bike and scooter program will initially feature up to 150 vehicles with a top speed of 15 miles per hour distributed throughout the city at preferred parking locations—or “nests”—which can be rented through the Bird smart phone app (available on iPhone and Android).
The pilot program will run for 12 months starting in December 2022. Users must be 18 years of age or older to sign up and ride.

Apply Today for a Real ID
Beginning in May 2025, a REAL ID will be required to board domestic flights and visit secure federal facilities such as military bases or courthouses. A California-issued REAL ID driver’s license or identification card meets these new requirements, and is marked with a gold bear and star.
Applying for a REAL ID requires proof of identity, California residency, and a trip to a DMV office. Provide Social Security number on REAL ID application (exceptions may apply).
Wait times are expected to increase as the deadline approaches, so California residents are encouraged to apply now to avoid lines, and upgrade to the REAL ID at no extra cost.
