Bike to Work Day is Thursday, May 18!

Save the date! Bike to Work Day is Thursday, May 18. For maximum fun, prep now for a smooth two-wheeled commute.

  • Prep Your Bike. Start with the ABCs – Air, Brakes, and Chain. This guide from 511 Contra Costa will get you started. Visit a local bike shop if you need help with a complete tune-up.
  • Plan Your Ride. The route you drive to work may not be ideal for commuting by bike. Map out your ride using quiet streets, bike lanes, and trails for a more comfortable, safer ride.
  • Test Your Plan. Take a test run to explore your route and locate bike racks or lockers at your destination. Practice loading your bike on a bus or taking it on BART. Commit to biking one day a week and you may be eligible for a $20 BikeLink locker card.
  • Find a bike buddy. Ask coworkers to join you on May 18. Plan where and when to meet so you can all ride in together (bike party!)

Cash in on an e-bike. If you've purchased an e-bike within the last six months, you may be eligible for a $150–500 cash rebate.
