CoCo Unveils Reopening Dates For Gyms, Salons, Dining And More

Find out when Contra Costa County will allow people to dine indoors, receive haircuts, visit gyms and more.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Contra Costa County released reopening dates for indoor dining, hair salons and barbershops, gyms and other services Saturday.

Hair salons and barbershops will be allowed to reopen June 17, the county said.

On July 1 the county will allow the resumption or reopening of: indoor dining; gyms and fitness centers; indoor museums; hotels for tourism and personal travel; and indoor leisure venues such as arcades, billiards and bowling alleys.

The county said primary, secondary and higher education schools may reopen in July or August. The public is advised to contact their school district for an exact date.

"These openings are a direct response to your patience and observation of the health order," the county said in a statement. "We hope to continue opening up the county, but may need to reconsider openings based on the course of the pandemic.

On Friday the county allowed outdoor dining, outdoor religious services, outdoor swimming pools, dog parks and overnight camping with members of a single household to resume.

It's unclear when the public will be able to receive massage and personal training services, and visit movie theaters, basketball courts, playgrounds, nail salons, piercing shops, tattoo and permanent makeup artists, and piercing shops, the county said. California does not currently allow such services.

Contra Costa County public health officials encourage the public to wear face coverings, practice social distancing, practice enhanced hand hygiene and stay home if they're feeling sick.

There were 1,633 cases of the coronavirus and 38 deaths related to COVID-19 in Contra Costa County as of Saturday.
