Contra Costa DA Charges San Ramon Shooting Suspect
Foster McCaskill, a 26-year-old from Concord, is suspected of shooting a woman at the Windermere Apartments.
SAN RAMON, CA - A suspect accused of shooting a woman in San Ramon has been charged by the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.
On Feb. 18, 2023 at about 11 p.m., San Ramon police officers were dispatched to the Mill Creek Apartments on Waterstone Place in response to shots fired, according to SRPD Lt. Becky Chestnut. Officers found a woman in the parking lot who had sustained a gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital, and is reported to be in stable condition.
Detectives identified the suspect as the victim’s ex-boyfriend, who was said to be traveling to Southern California. San Ramon police coordinated with multiple law enforcement agencies in Southern California, and 26-year-old Foster McCaskill was eventually arrested in Anaheim. Police say they found a firearm in McCaskill’s vehicle, which is currently being analyzed in a crime lab.

McCaskill was transported and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility. The Contra Costa DA has charged him with Attempted Murder; Assault With a Deadly Weapon with enhancements for using a firearm and causing great bodily injury; and Domestic Violence with enhancements for using a firearm and causing great bodily injury.
