Do You Know What DMV Fees Are Tax Deductible, San Ramon?

The California Department of Motor Vehicles is reminding residents that the vehicle license fee portion of your payment is tax deductible -- but it is the only part of your annual vehicle registration payment that may be deducted on your income tax.

So where is it, exactly, on your forms?

The DMV issued the following guidelines:

. The vehicle license fee can be found on your:

• Vehicle Registration Renewal Notice
• Validated Registration Card

Your annual vehicle registration payment consists of various fees that apply to your vehicle. Your annual renewal notice and registration card itemize these fees.

The following is a list of the various fees that may be included in your annual vehicle registration payment:

• Registration Fee
• Vehicle License Fee (This is the fee that may be an income tax deduction)
• Weight Fee
• Special Plate Fee
• County/District Fees
• Owner Responsibility Fee
