'Doggie Dayz of Summer' Festival for Dogs, Dog Lovers

Free event to feature contests, costume parade and pooch playground

SAN RAMON, CA: The first ever Doggie Dayz of Summer festival for dogs and their owners will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, in the dog park area at Memorial Park, Bollinger Canyon Road and San Ramon Valley Boulevard, San Ramon.

Doggie Dayz of Summer will feature contests including the cutest puppy, best trick, ugliest dog and best dog/human costume, a costume parade and a Pooch Playground where dogs can play off-leash in the safety of an enclosed area.

Several local animal service non-profits will have dogs available for adoption and dozens of exhibitors will be on hand, many featuring pet-related products and services, and San Ramon Police K9 Unit demonstrations. There will also be food trucks and live music performed by students of San Ramon’s School of Rock.

Admission to the event is free. To enter contests is $5 per dog and covers all the contests, which start at 9:30 a.m. Registered dogs will also receive “doggie” bags of goodies. Pre-registration at SanRamon.org is recommended and those who pre-register will be entered into a drawing for prizes.

The event is hosted by the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce and the “Best in Show” sponsor is Gateway Pet Hospital. Other sponsors include “Alpha Dog” sponsor Chevron Corporation and in-kind sponsors City of San Ramon, Pleasanton Weekly, DanvilleSanRamon.com and School of Rock- San Ramon and Your Town Monthly.
