Dougherty Station Community Center Seeking New Name
The San Ramon community is asked to provide input on a new name for the community center, which is reopening next year with an arts focus.

SAN RAMON, CA - The Dougherty Station Community Center is undergoing a number of renovations, and plans to reopen in 2023 under an arts theme.
To reflect its new focus, the Parks & Community Services Commission is asking for the public’s help naming the building and its rooms. All names must follow the city’s Facility, Park, and Trail Naming Policy, which emphasizes geographic, natural, or historical features.
To participate, complete this survey by Monday, Jan. 9 at 5 p.m.

The current building is named after James W. Dougherty, a settler who bought most of Amador’s land in the 1830s and was the second largest landholder in the area by the late 19th century.
The updated facility will include a number of new creative spaces, including an expanded dance studio, green room, expanded art gallery, six private artist studios, and two soundproof sound studios.

The goal of the new facility is to provide more affordable arts programs, provide a wider range of arts-related courses and programming, provide rental artist studio spaces, and provide artists additional opportunities to perform, exhibit and sell goods.
The community will retain all its current programming.
