Race to Nowhere Screening

The Race to Nowhere showing is an event designed to raise awareness aboutteen overpressure in the community. The 85-minute film introduces various aspects about the issue and is a “call to mobilize families, educators, and policy makers to challenge current assumptions on how to best prepare the youth of America to become healthy, bright, contributing and leading citizens.” The Teen Council believes teen overpressure is a growing problem in the community and students may suffer serious repercussions as they continue to engage in overly demanding and challenging classes and extracurricular activities. Through this showing, the Teen Council aims to encourage both parents and students to seek resources and solutions towards combating this issue. There will also be a panel discussion featuring Dougherty Valley’s own, Mr. Vega. Admission and is free!  Both students and parents are welcome.
