Price Burlington is planning to depart June 2 with the goal of raising $100,000 for the nonprofit High Fives.
SAN RAMON, CA — A 60-year-old sales trainer who works for SAP in San Ramon will be making a 3,100-mile-roundtrip bike ride from his office to the company's national headquarters in Pennsylvania in honor of his late son, Record.net is reporting. Price Burlington is planning to depart June 2 with the goal of raising $100,000 for the nonprofit High Fives, an organization that works to help those who have suffered move on with their lives. Burlington, along with his wife and their three surviving children, suffered great anguish when Connor Burlington died Sept. 7, 2017, after crashing his vehicle outside of Sacramento. Connor, the oldest of the Burlington kids, was 29.
Price’s decision to make the cross-country ride to support High Fives came about a year ago. "They’ve been more than supportive and encouraging," he told Report.net. "They’ve sort of adopted us and we’ve adopted them.” Price plans to ride 60 to 70 miles a day, six days a week, for two months with a planned Aug. 2 arrival at the SAP headquarters in Newtown Square. His wife, Joretta, and their golden retriever, Bailey, will accompany him on the ride in the comfort of a 23-foot motorhome.
The couple has already had some adventure in the rig, which they bought especially for the trip: During a six-day test run not too long ago, they sheered off the vehicle's air conditioning unit on a Pleasanton parking lot overhang, they told Report.net.
