Festival Opera Presents: Opera 101

Opera 101 presented by Festival Opera and hosted by John Kendall Bailey, music director and conductor of the Mesopotamia Symphony Orchestra.

What exactly IS opera? And where did it come from? Opera seems to be an old art form or similar to musical theater, or movies? Lecturer and conductor John Kendall Bailey will answer these questions and guide you through a brief tour of opera's history, covering the most important opera composers and treating you to some of the greatest arias. He will also provide a peek at what goes on behind the scenes in order for an opera company to create the spectacular productions that audiences enjoy.

If interested this class will take place on June 24, 2016 at 7 PM at the Front Row Theater. The theater is located at the Dougherty Station Community Center at 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.sanramon.ca.gov/parks/theater/calendar/htm
