Freebies to Finish Out September

From watching competitive soccer to holding dinosaur fossils, there's a lot of fun options for families is the Tri-Valley.

It’s that time of the month again, time to round up some more free family activities the whole crew can enjoy.

It's soccer season, and one weekend activity that is always fun is watching others play the sport. In San Ramon, you can see first graders play soccer at Pine Valley on Saturday mornings or catch an older division at Coyote Creek. Visit SanRamonSoccer.org to learn more about upcoming games or even some of their free soccer clinics.

Each Friday in September, from 3:45 p.m.  to 6 p.m., in San Ramon is offering free roller skating admission for students, elementary through high school.

It's also offered on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon throughout the month. If your child has roller skates or roller blades, this won’t cost you a penny. Make sure your older child brings a student id, which is not necessary for elementary aged children.

in Walnut Creek has two fun crafts in store on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This store is conveniently located in Walnut Creek, at 1929 Mt. Diablo Boulevard. On Sept. 22, your budding artist will make a fall leaf collage, using materials provided by the store. Just in time for autumn, return on Sept. 29 and your child will make a harvest corn door hanger.

Do you have a younger child and are looking for a fun mother and child or father and child date? How about heading to in Pleasanton each Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. You and your child will play games together, read together, dance and shake out all kinds of sillies!

Do you have a dinosaur enthusiast? The features a program called “Dinosaurs Rock” on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dinos will take over the library as children get some hands-on fun with real dinosaur fossils.

How about an activity for your tween? The in San Ramon is hosting a movie afternoon on Friday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. This is best for 12 to 17 year olds.

Family story time is a way for the whole family to get involved in listening to great books together. Head to the on Sept. 26 for an evening of stories, songs, and games. The festivities begin at 6:30.

Whether roller skating is for you, singing and games, or free crafts, there are lots of choices around the Tri-Valley for families to enjoy.
