LIttle League All Stars: Canyon Creek 12s Ousted From District 57 Touranment

Not a lot went right for the Canyon Creek 12-year-old all star team in Monday's loss to San Ramon Valley.

Canyon Creek lost 16-0 to SRV and was eliminated from the District 57 12-year-old all-star tournament.

"Nothing really clicked for us today," said manager Brian Mague. "We were definitely not in a normal zone."

From the first pitch, Canyon Creek was behind. Starting pitcher Andrew Chough was unable to get out of the first innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and three walks.

When he was brought out, the San Ramon Valley offense didn't slow down piling up another eight runs in the game.

Leadoff hitter Isaiah Floyd went 2 for 3 with a pair of singles, but was unable to cross home plate.

Alex Lyijynen reached third base in the bottom of the third, but San Ramon Valley pitcher Grant Jones made sure he didn't score.

Mague felt a reason for the team's poor play was the fact that it was Canyon Creek's third game in as many days.

"This team has the potential to beat teams like San Ramon Valley beat us," Mague said. "It's just tough to play three in a row on both our hitting and pitching."

Mague said the team will take a break for the Independence Day weekend, but will get back to practice and work on the fundamentals. Mague hopes the team will be firing on all cylinders come their next tournament on July 10.
