Massive, Uprooted Tree Hits San Ramon Apartment Building

The incident happened just one day after another toppled tree fatally struck a woman who had been walking on a golf course path.

SAN RAMON, CA — The torrential rain and winds from weekend storms may have caused a large tree to uproot and land on top of an apartment building in San Ramon. Residents say the tree uprooted on the Twin Creeks Drive property sometime early Sunday morning. Crews quickly worked to remove the felled tree.

Management from the Canyon Creek Apartments did not return calls for comment about the status of the apartment building. Officials with the San Ramon Valley Fire Department have not yet been reached for comment.

The winter storm, which caused flooding and mudslides all over the Bay Area, also claimed one of the most famous trees in the state. The Pioneer Cabin Tree, perhaps better known as the Drive-Through Tree, was discovered toppled on Jan. 8, a victim of Mother Nature.
