1. Why are you running for mayor?
I am the Mayor and I would like to continue the work/direction we are advocating.

2. What do you think is the biggest challenge facing your constituents?

3. How do you intend to address it?
We are studying new revenue sources and we may have to delay some spending.
4. What should be done to solve the affordable housing crisis?
We are doing it. City walk has been described by the executive director of ABAG as a model for the entire Bay Area.
5. What do you think the city can do to conserve water?
We are using every technology available and we are still cutting back (waterfalls, low use landscaping)
6. What can the city do to help its downtown and small businesses?
The single biggest thing all our San Ramon residents can do (including other businesses) is shop San Ramon.
7. What other issues are important to you?
Completing the Bollinger Canyon Rd. overpass, keeping Valley Link on time and under budget, and converting our CCCTA fleet to hydrogen buses serviced by the new processing plant for Valley Link which will be located in Tracy.
8. What differentiates you from other candidates?
Experience on regional committees (ABAG, BAAQMD, SJJPA rail, Valley Link), 25 years on city council (3 years as Mayor), 15 years on CCTA and CCCTA, 10 years on League of California Cities policy committees, 10 years on East Bay Regional Parks District Advisory Committee.

10. How long have you lived in San Ramon?
44 years.
11. If you didn’t grow up here, what brought you to the city?
It was close to our jobs and we wanted to raise our family here.
12. What is your day job, and how will that prepare you to serve on the council?
Mayor during the day, nothing prepares you for being Mayor like being the Mayor.
13. What experience do you have serving the community?
25 years on city council 4 years on the planning commission, 40 years on the Iron horse trail. (Last president of the Right of Way Trail Advocates in 1994)
14. Of which accomplishments are you most proud?
Caldecott Tunnel, Valley Link, Bridge over Bollinger Canyon Rd. Friend of the Grizzly (2002) Friend of the Western States Trail (1999)
15. What is your education?
30 years at city hall
16. Tell us about your family.
My wife Barbara and I have been married 52 years and we have three children and 4 grandchildren. We were born and raised in Stockton and attended high school together (1966).
17. What is the best advice you ever received?
A leader’s greatest asset is humility.
18. Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
“Character and imaged desired” for San Ramon. Let this be your guiding star.

My website is not updated and likely won’t be for this election. My consultant passed away suddenly two weeks ago before we could finish the survey responses or the website. He had the passwords.
