Press release from The 1162 Pledge:
Feb. 26, 2021
The 1162 pledge, is an initiative to help small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our name comes from the 1162 to 1 ratio of small business to corporations. We want to educate and remind the citizens of the Tri-Valley to support our local small businesses who have been hit hard by the pandemic. Our goal is to encourage people to spend money at small businesses and help them due to the tremendous instability and hardships they are facing during this time. Please sign our pledge by visiting our website (1162pledge.com).

Since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, small businesses have struggled to stay open. Small businesses have always been a large part of the United States and its economy, outnumbering corporations 1162 to 1 and paying 44% of America’s payroll. In a short 9 months, more than 100,000 small businesses have been forced to close their doors. For this reason, as citizens of San Ramon, it is our obligation to provide support to these small businesses to help them survive this pandemic.
This cause is extremely important to our community so we request that you please sign a pledge to give as much business to local San Ramon small business as you can to help them stay afloat in these strenuous times. Whether you get takeout from a local restaurant or buy groceries from the neighborhood market, these purchases and support make a huge difference to struggling businesses. Together, we can save the essence of our community, small businesses.
