San Ramon Man Dies In Martinez Detention Facility
Officials said the man had been arrested earlier in the day on suspicion of battery and resisting arrest.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Contra Costa County sheriff's officials have identified an inmate found dead at the Martinez Detention Facility as Karthik Kandaswamy of San Ramon. The 26-year-old man was found in a holding room suffering from a medical problem at 11:27 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, according to officials.
Paramedics and firefighters were called to the jail but Kandaswamy was pronounced dead at the scene despite staff attempts to save his life.
San Ramon police arrested Kandaswamy earlier in the day on suspicion of battery and resisting arrest.
