Officials ID Man Killed in Collision on Crow Canyon Road

The fatal crash occurred on Sunday night.

A San Ramon man was killed when his Nissan was struck head-on by a pickup truck just outside of San Ramon on Sunday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Ravi Pappu, 32, was heading north on Crow Canyon Road at 8:21 p.m. when a Ford pickup truck driven by a 44-year-old San Ramon man drifted over the double yellow lines and crashed into Pappu’s 2004 Nissan Sentra, CHP officials said. Pappu, his 29-year-old passenger and the pickup driver were taken to a hospital, where Pappu died from his injuries.

The truck driver suffered major injuries and Pappu’s passenger also suffered moderate to major injuries, according to the CHP. Investigators are still looking into why the pickup driver ended up on the wrong side of the road and whether alcohol or drugs might have been a factor.
