Park of the Week: Coyote Crossing Park

The hills are alive with the sounds of outdoor fun.

San Ramon has a whopping 54 parks spread throughout the community, ranging from small neighborhood playgrounds to multiacre, multifeature parks.

Each week, we'll be highlighting one of our city parks, showing you photos, listing park features and telling you what's special about it. We have so many parks that it will take Patch more than a year to profile each one. So, if you have a special park you'd like featured next, let us know.

Coyote Crossing Park, located at 3495 Rosincress Drive, occupies a sprawling and shady seven acres in the Windemere neighborhood. Hills of different heights give the park a multi-leveled effect and provide a distinct space for each of Coyote Crossing’s features.

You enter Coyote Crossing at its highest elevation, where you’ll find scattered picnic tables, men’s and women’s restrooms and the beginning of the cement walking trail that snakes throughout the park.

Making your way down the hill you’ll encounter the park’s two play structures. The first and smaller of the two, is  perfect for toddlers. It has easy climbing for little legs, a short slide and a fun under-the-sea theme, complete with fishy art and a periscope.

Farther down the path the big kid playground has poles to climb, monkey bars to swing on and toadstools to hop on. Each play area has a tanbark bed and benches for watchful parents.

Flanking the parks to the right is a beautiful soccer field, which can easily be adapted for kite flying, Frisbee tossing, etc. Athletes are well taken care of at Coyote Crossing, which also has a well-kept baseball diamond, a full-sized basketball court and two fenced in tennis courts.

Other amenities at Coyote Crossing include water fountains, barbecues, and great views of the surrounding landscape including Mt. Diablo. Check it out while the sun still shines!
