Park of the Week: East Branch Park

Perfect for active families, this park in Windemere is set up for soccer, baseball, basketball and picnicking.

One of San Ramon's biggest prides and joys is the city's amazing park system. Our city has a whopping 53 parks spread throughout our vast community, ranging from small neighborhood playgrounds to multi-acre, multi-feature parks.

Each week we'll be highlighting one of our city parks, showing you photos, listing park features, and telling you what's special about them. We have so many parks that it will take Patch more than a year to profile each of them. So if you have a special park you'd like featured next, let us know!

East Branch Park, one of the many parks in Windemere, draws active, sports-loving families.

The 5.10-acre park, surrounded by homes on Harcourt Road, features expansive lawns for soccer and frisbee, a baseball field, a small basketball court, walking and bike paths and direct access to trails and open space.

Windemere parks are new with young trees, so finding shelter on a hot day can be challenging. But the East Branch park offers a few shady spots, including a large gazebo and a long row of benches under awnings.

The playground features two play structures with slides and two swings (no toddler swings). Bark chips cover the playground and there is no sandbox, something to consider if sand play is a must for your kids.

The park has plenty of seating, including several picnic benches, as well as restroom facilities.

Have you visited East Branch Park? What's your favorite thing to do there? What do you wish the park offered that it doesn't? Share your views with other Patch readers by adding your comment in the box below.
