Protest Planned Outside Assemblywoman’s San Ramon Office

In the wake of the deadly Florida shooting, members of the Tri Valley Democratic Club say they plan to voice their opinions.

SAN RAMON, CA — In the wake of a Florida shooting that left 17 dead and numerous others injured Wednesday after a former student opened fire at high school in Parkland, members of the Tri Valley Democratic Club say they plan to protest outside California Assemblywoman Catharine Baker’s (R-San Ramon) San Ramon office. Baker represents California’s 16th Assembly District, which includes Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville, and portions of Walnut Creek and Lamorinda.

Ellis Goldberg, who organized the protest, asked members to gather at 2440 Camino Ramon in San Ramon between noon and 5 p.m. to voice their opinions of Baker’s stance on the NRA and gun violence.

"EVERY parent’s nightmare is a text from their kid at school – Code Red – Enough is enough," Goldberg wrote in an email to the group.

"I feel the same frustration and horror everyone feels after this week’s events. As a mom, I’ve received that terrible call notifying me that my children’s high school is on lock down. That is why I have supported common sense, reasonable gun control again, and again, and again, including expanding the assault weapons ban, expanding background checks, and closing loopholes in our regulations. I have supported almost two dozen gun control bills, despite the push back from extreme groups and their threats to me and my home, and I am the only Republican in the state who has carried legislation sponsored by the Brady Campaign and signed by a Democrat governor. I hope we can see more bipartisanship on reasonable gun control. We need it."
