Recognizing the New Graduates of the Leadership SRV Program
Leadership San Ramon Valley, a community engagement and leadership development program, just graduated another class of community leaders.

Leadership San Ramon Valley celebrated the Class of 2017 with a graduation ceremony on May 25th at the Village Theater in Danville on May 25th. The Leadership San Ramon Valley program is designed to promote community engagement by giving participants an in-depth look at various aspects of the community and further developing their leadership skills.
Participants have attended ten monthly day-long sessions since September focusing on a variety of topics related to the dynamics of the San Ramon Valley, such as education, community services, local and state government, regional planning, community economics, communications, and cultural arts. Presenters and panel members for these sessions have included current elected officials and experts in their fields. In addition to the monthly class sessions, participants completed related fieldwork assignments that provide them with opportunities to interact with each other and with local leaders to explore community issues and topics related to the class sessions.
Each class also performs a community service project. The Class of 2017 chose to address the issue of Youth Stress and Anxiety in our community by raising funds for Discovery Counseling Center which provides programs and individual counseling to help teens and youth appropriately manage stress and anxiety. Class members raised $5,000 including $1,500 from Chevron, and their efforts to provide volunteers for the Devil Mountain Run resulted in an additional grant of $5,000 from UPS, yielding a total of $10,000 raised for Discovery Counseling Center!
