The Return: San Ramon Girl heads to Miami as a Finalist for Scotts Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit, & Run (PHR) Program

Local girl wins Athletics Team Championship and gets invited to National Finalist competition at Marlins Park in Miami, FL.

On Monday, June 26, 2017, Mylia Perez of San Ramon, CA was announced as a Finalist for the Scotts Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit, & Run Program for the 2nd year in a row. Last year at Petco Park in San Diego, Mylia was the runner-up in the Softball Division 9-10 year olds. She will be competing in the same division this year in Miami.

Beginning in March, more than 625,000 youth participated in more than 4,500 competitions in either the baseball or softball divisions throughout the United States and Canada. Team championships were hosted at each of the 30 MLB ballparks between the end of May and late June. Mylia advanced through Local and Sectional competitions to make it to the Athletics Team Championship on Sunday, June 4, 2017. Mylia won the Athletics Team Championship and earned a shot as a National Finalist. Finalists are selected by having one of the top three scores amongst all 30 MLB Team Champions.

The Scotts MLB Pitch, Hit, & Run National Finals competition is scheduled for Monday, July 10th at 12:30 p.m. (EDT), prior to Gatorade All-Star Workout Day and the T-Mobile Home Run Derby. The list of 24 Finals competitors includes the top three baseball and softball participants from four age divisions (7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14).

The finalists of both competitions will attend various All-Star Week activities, including MLB All-Star FanFest at the Miami Beach Convention Center (July 7th-11th), All-Star Sunday featuring the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game (July 9th) and Gatorade All-Star Workout Day featuring the T-Mobile Home Run Derby (July 10th).

Scotts Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit, & Run Program is the "Official Youth Skills Competition of Major League Baseball" where youth are invited to demonstrate their skills in pitching, hitting, and running in baseball or softball.

Mylia is 10 years-old and will be entering the 6th grade this fall. She is the youngest child of Lloyd Perez and Annalyn Perez. She plays softball with the 12A Valley Stompers program through San Ramon Valley Athletic League (www.srvgal.org). In addition, she also plays competitive soccer with the 06G Pleasanton Rage program (https://pleasantonrage.org/).
