In 2006, Assistance League® Diablo Valley had launched a community partnership, where volunteers from local businesses and corporations had become “hands-on” involved with several of the chapter’s philanthropic programs. On Thursday, October 7, Community Partners from Walnut Creek Rotary arrived at the Assistance League Annex for a second visit this year to fill clothing bags designated for Operation School Bell® recipients.

Two hours after arrival, the eight volunteers had successfully bundled six pairs of socks, six pairs of underwear, a sweatshirt, two pairs of pants or one pair of pants and one pair of shorts for the boys, two pairs of pants or one pair of pants and one skort (upon request) for the girls, and three white, collared shirts—all into large, reusable blue bags, 153 in total. These will be delivered to schoolchildren attending Los Medanos Elementary School (GO, MUSTANGS!) in the Pittsburg Unified School District.

Together, Assistance League Diablo Valley’s Operation School Bell volunteers and members of the Rotary Club of Walnut Creek will have contributed to a successful school performance from our most treasured assets, the children.
