San Ramon To Adopt New Fee Structure Affecting Development, Housing, Parks And More
The council will adopt an ordinance updating fees for parks, housing and more, including shifts to per-square-foot charges.

SAN RAMON, CA — The San Ramon City Council will formally adopt updates to the city’s municipal code that change development-related fees.
Ordinance 537 affects a wide range of fees, including those related to child care, parks and recreation facilities, public art, open space, and affordable housing. The changes are tied to a broader update to the city’s Master Fee Schedule, which adjusts hundreds of fees paid by residents, businesses, and developers for city services and infrastructure.

- General Plan Recovery Fee: From 0.53% of building valuation to 0.17%
- Zoning Ordinance Recovery Fee: From 0.16% to 0.13%
- Technology Fee: From 4.6% to 4.74%
- Park & Recreation Facility Impact Fee: Formerly based on type of unit, now $1.39 per square foot of residential development
- Parkland Dedication Fee: Formerly based on appraised land value formula, now $22.63 per square foot
- Open Space Development Impact Fee: From $1141 per single family-unit and $750 per multifamily unit; now $1.18 per square foot
- Office: From $0.61 to $0.17 per square foot
- Hotel: From $0.18 per square foot to $200.13 per guest room
- Single-family fee removed, formerly $1163.36 per unit
- Multifamily fee removed, formerly $626.84 per unit, now 29 cents per square foot

The council introduced the ordinance and held a public hearing March 10. If approved, the new ordinance will take effect 30 days after adoption.
