San Ramon Citizen Planning Academy Applications Due Friday

San Ramon residents can sign up for a five-week course in September providing the A-Z on planning in the city.

SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon citizens interested in the inner workings of city government and planning are invited to apply to participate in the 5th session of the San Ramon Citizen Planning Academy.

The five-week course provides information from experts on city planning, the land use planning process, development review, and more. The course concludes with a mock planning commission meeting for a theoretical project in which participants serve as planning commissioners, developers, and residents.

Classes begin Sept. 12 and last for five consecutive Mondays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at San Ramon City Hall. The sessions will be as follows:

  • Sept. 12: Planning 101 - Nuts and Bolts
  • Sept. 19: Land Use Balance - planning for housing, transportation and open space
  • Sept. 26: The Development Review Process Demystified
  • Oct. 3: The Planning Process Real Time
  • Oct. 10: Mock Planning Commission Hearing
  • Date TBD: City Council recognition
