San Ramon City, Youth Leaders, Join Hands to Rise Against Hunger

This past weekend several members of the local Rotary Club of San Ramon, local business leaders, and California High School Interact students came together at California High School in San Ramon to package over 8,000 meals for people suffering from hunger and malnutrition, around the globe.

Leaders from local businesses, San Ramon Rotary, and Cal High Interact Club partnered with Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief non-profit organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable people. The organization's mission is to end hunger by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources.

More than 30 volunteers packed the cafeteria at California High School to passionately package over 8,000 meals which consisted of food essentials. These food packets will be shipped by Rise Against Hunger to areas afflicted with drought and other types of disaster.

Event organizer, local business person, and Rotarian, Don Jones, noted that it's specifically these types of programs and events which create local and global impact that inspire him to serve and give back. This sentiment was shared by all the volunteers.
