Updated Permit Counter Hours Begin January 2
Walk-In Service 8:30–1 p.m. Daily
Appointments 1–5 p.m. Daily

In response to the emphasis on a digital service platform and the changes in customer interactions post-COVID, Planning and Engineering Services are modifying the staffing for the public counter at the Permit Center in City Hall (7000 Bollinger Canyon Road), beginning January 2, 2024. Based on a survey of the Permit Center walk-in customer encounters, the majority of public interactions are now via phone and email, rather than in person.

Under the current service model, there is a morning and an afternoon counter shift with a dedicated staff member for each. Starting January 2, Planning and Engineering Services will be shifting to dedicated counter staff from 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m. daily, and by-appointment from 1 p.m.–5 p.m.

Planning and Engineering staff will still be on site for the occasional walk-in questions; appointments will be required in order to meet with a specific member of staff.

Staff will continue to monitor staffing levels and make any adjustments to ensure that customer needs are met in a timely manner.
