Last Chance: Apply for Government 101 by Sunday, January 21
In the Spring of 2024, the San Ramon City Clerk's Office will host the 15th session of San Ramon Government 101, a class designed to enhance residents' understanding of city government and department functions, and encourage participation in the City’s committees, commissions, and other volunteer opportunities.

The classes will be held on Mondays starting on February 26, 2024. The course runs for eight weeks. Each class begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. There will be a formal recognition of class participants at a City Council meeting.
The class is free, but space is limited to 25 residents, over 18 years of age.
Completed application forms must be submitted by Sunday, January 21 at midnight. Applicants will be notified of acceptance status by early February 2024.
Voices of San Ramon: Teen and Young Adult Open Mic

On Thursday, January 25 at 7 p.m., join San Ramon Poet Laureate Jenyth Jo for a Voices of San Ramon: Teen & Adult Open Mic event themed "Starting Fresh." The event will take place at the Front Row Theater at Dougherty Station Community Arts Center (17011 Bollinger Canyon Road).
This, the first in a series of five open mic events, will encourage storytellers ages 14 and up to find a space to use their voice and explore our world’s oldest medium of language while expanding their craft and audience.

Tickets Available for San Ramon Historic Foundation Crab Feed
Saturday, January 27 at 6 p.m.
San Ramon Community Center
Get your tickets today for the San Ramon Historic Foundation Crab Feed on Saturday, January 27 at the San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd). The event begins with a no-host social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
All proceeds will go towards the new sheep barn flooring at Forest Home Farms Historic Park.
San Ramon Community Police Academy Applications Open
Apply by January 31 for Spring 2024 Session
The next session of the San Ramon Police Department's popular Community Academy begins February 15. The class takes place on Thursday evenings through May 9.
The Community Academy covers topics from building searches to narcotics, DUI enforcement, and everything in between.
This is an extremely immersive program which will also bring you to a gun range, high-speed driving course, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Martinez Detention Facility.

Aspenwood Senior Apartments: Now Accepting Applications
Occupancy Anticipated to Begin in February
The construction of the Aspenwood Senior Apartment project for 122 income-restricted senior apartment units, made possible in part by significant funding from the City, continues to make progress toward occupancy, and is anticipated to open in February.
The developer has begun accepting applications for eligible senior (62+) households through the project website (www.aspenwoodseniorapts.com). Interested applicants may also contact the developer at (925) 766-6070 for more detailed information.
The selection process will incorporate household income requirements, and the adopted San Ramon priority access-system guidelines for City-funded housing projects. This includes priority preference for San Ramon residents, and people who work in San Ramon. There is also preference given to veterans, first responders, and public employees.
50% Discount on Bay Area Transit Fares with Clipper START
As of January 1, Clipper START cardholders can take advantage of a 50% discount on Bay Area transit fares – including rides on BART, County Connection, Tri Delta Transit, and WestCAT. A Clipper START card is available to income-qualified riders who complete a simple application form. Apply today!
Additional Clipper discounts are also available:
- Youth and Senior Clipper cards – Discounts for ages 5-18 and 65+.
- RTC Card – Discounts for riders with qualifying disabilities.
- Clipper BayPass – An employer-provided all-access transit pass good for unlimited rides on bus, BART, and ferry services throughout the Bay Area. Encourage your employer to join the BayPass Pilot Program and be one of the first to enjoy unlimited rides.

Construction Update: Crow Canyon Widening
Construction Continues Between Alcosta Blvd & Crow Canyon Private (Cobblestone); Partial Roadway Paving Anticipated in February
Work continues on the Crow Canyon Widening Project between Alcosta Boulevard and Crow Canyon Private (Cobblestone). See below for a summary of recent and planned upcoming work.
Work Completed Through 1/17/24:
- Completed soil bench excavation (removal of additional soil that was added for equipment to drive on)
- Completed retaining wall installation
- Completed traffic signal switchover work at the intersection of Crow Canyon Road and Tahiti Drive/El Capitan Drive
- Completed Job walk with 3rd party utility companies (Barbados Drive to Crow Canyon Private)
- Install colored stain on retaining wall
- Completed December 14th traffic signal turn on at the Crow Canyon Road at Barbados Drive intersection
- Completed water meter installation
- Completed EBMUD meter disconnection
- Completed Verizon utility box adjustments
Work Planned Through 1/25/24 (Weather Dependent):
- Continue work at the intersection of Crow Canyon Road and Tahiti Drive/El Capitan Drive - remove existing right turn lane closure in February after partial roadway paving
- Continue drainage inlet work
- Continue 3rd party utility adjustments in preparation for partial roadway paving
- Continue irrigation installation (Barbados to Crow Canyon Private)
- Continue sidewalk, curb, and gutter grading and installation
- Open Northbound Barbados Drive in February
- Continue roadway base work for paving
- NOTE: Partial roadway paving is anticipated in February. Paving will include the intersection of Crow Canyon Road/Alcosta Blvd and require a detour at Camino Ramon. Additional February paving will include work on Crow Canyon Road, Tahiti Drive, and El Capitan. Please watch for future updates from the City of San Ramon.

Construction Update: Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing
Upcoming Changes to Bollinger Canyon Road Traffic
Work continues on the Iron Horse Trail Overcrossing at Bollinger Canyon Road. Please see below for anticipated upcoming work and impacts to traffic flow.
Work Completed Through 1/17/24:
- Completed CIDH (cast in drilled hole) pile work on the North and South Trail
- Completed traffic signal switchover to temporary system
- Completed equipment mobilization to the median
- Completed median CIDH pile work
- Completed traffic signal switchover to the permanent traffic signal system at the intersection of Bollinger Canyon Road and BR1E
- Completed adjustment to k-rail to reduce the existing closure area to the original configuration
Work Anticipated Through 1/25/24 (Weather Dependent):
- Continue demolition, excavation on the Iron Horse Trail
- Continue abutment and MSE wall work on the Trail including rebar installation, concrete pours, and panel installation
- Continue utility work on the Iron Horse Trail

Friday Foreign Film Series Returns in February

The Friday Foreign Film Series returns on February 2 at 7 p.m. at the Dougherty Station Community Arts Center (17011 Bollinger Canyon Road) with a showing of the Academy Award-winning film Rashomon. From legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, this groundbreaking film tells the story of a crime from four different perspectives: a bandit, a bride, a ghost, and a woodcutter.
This year, the Friday Foreign Film Series will focus on Asian cinema with films from Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam. Each screening will be followed by a group conversation led by a moderator.
