SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon police helped the Walnut Creek Police Department arrest a suspect accused of committing two armed robberies. Officers were part of the Central County SWAT Team, a team consisting of officers from San Ramon, Martinez, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, and BART that deals with high-risk crises that occur in any of those cities, and BART facilities in Contra Costa County. It is the largest SWAT team in the county, and responsible for the highest number of individuals in Contra Costa County.
The officers helped arrest Fairfield resident Malcolm Hale, who was accused of committing armed robberies at a Burger King on Nov. 3 and a car wash on Nov. 8.
Members of the SWAT Team executed a search and arrest warrant in Fairfield, according to a news release from the Walnut Creek Police Department. Detectives uncovered an AR-15 assault style rifle and arrested Hale on charges of weapons violations and robberies. He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility with a bail of $600,000.
