Pursuit Ends In Ticket Due To Coronavirus Worries

Police say the man eventually tried to ditch his car and was caught, but he was not booked into jail, DanvilleSanRamon.com reported.

SAN RAMON VALLEY, CA — A police pursuit ended in a ticket Wednesday, as deputies did not want to book the 23-year-old driver into jail due to concerns about the new coronavirus, DanvilleSanRamon.com reported.

Danville police first began pursuing the man's gray Ford pickup truck around 6:20 p.m. and stopped after the man drove on the wrong side of the street. San Ramon police picked up the chase later, backed off when the car started driving on the wrong side of the road again, then spotted the car later in a Valdivia Circle driveway, DanvilleSanRamon.com reported.

Contra Costa County Sheriff's deputies, a helicopter and a K-9 joined forces with police. The man was arrested and refused entry into the Martinez Detention Facility due to concerns about the outbreak, DanvilleSanRamon.com reported.
