San Ramon Regional Medical Center Celebrates 30 Years
The hospital opened on Valentine's Day in 1990.

San Ramon, Calif. – Feb. 14, 2020 – San Ramon Regional Medical Center has proudly served the San Ramon Valley and its surrounding communities for 30 years. The hospital opened its doors on Feb. 14, 1990. Over the last 30 years, San Ramon Regional has expanded its services, upgraded technology and increased its medical staff – all in an effort to provide an excellent patient experience.

“For the last three decades, our hospital has become well-known for the compassionate and high-quality care we deliver to every person who walks through our doors. On this special anniversary, I want to recognize the hard work and dedication of our physicians, employees, volunteers and community supporters,” said Ann Lucena, CEO of San Ramon Regional Medical Center. “Through their tremendous efforts, they have made our hospital the outstanding institution it is today.”
Located on a hillside overlooking the San Ramon Valley, San Ramon Regional Medical Center is a 123-bed acute care hospital known for providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and emergency care. The hospital’s facilities include the Family Birthing Center, Outpatient Surgery Center, Breast Center, Infusion Center, Sports Performance Institute, Advanced Wound Center, which houses our hyperbaric oxygen therapy program, Pleasanton Diagnostic Imaging Center, Hacienda Surgery Center and Tresanti Surgery Center.

San Ramon Regional Medical Center provides award-winning heart care programs, joint and spine treatment programs including advanced and minimally-invasive surgical services, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, as well as 24/7 pediatric services. Always embracing cutting-edge technology and robotics, the hospital utilizes its da Vinci Xi Surgical System for minimally-invasive surgeries and the Mako System for advanced joint replacements. San Ramon Regional Medical Center became the first hospital in the Bay Area to purchase the ExcelsiusGPS® system to offer robotic-assisted spine surgery, and also recently acquired the O-arm 2D/3D imaging system and StealthStation S8 surgical navigation system to equip and assist spine surgeons with the most advanced tools and technology in the operating room. The hospital offers a blood conservation program, unique to the region, and has a life-saving partnership with Donor Network West.
In our 30 years, San Ramon Regional Medical Center has had more than 1.7 million outpatient visits and nearly 94,000 inpatient stays. The hospital currently has more than 600 physicians on its medical staff, 700 hospital employees and 170 volunteers.

- Prototype of newly-opened minimally invasive operating suite premiers at the American College of Surgeons meeting – 1993
- Participated in FDA trial for spinal fusion through the abdomen, a surgical approach doctors use in artificial disc replacement today – 1995
- First hospital to perform Laparoscopic Aortic Bypass in the United States – 1995
- Voice-activated robotic surgery debuts for the first time in the world – right here at San Ramon – 1996
- First hospital on the West Coast to perform surgery with the da Vinci Surgical System – 2000
- San Ramon’s Joint Venture Partnership with John Muir Health is the first partnership between a for-profit and not-for-profit hospital in California – 2013
- State-of-the-art hybrid operating room/cardiac catheterization lab inaugurated – 2014
- First hospital in the Bay Area to purchase the ExcelsiusGPS® system to offer robotic-assisted spine surgery – 2020
