“These ten students and the three other nominees have accomplished so much, and truly stand out in their respective Career Technical Education ROP classes as deep thinkers, collaborators and leaders. When I visit our schools, I often have the opportunity to see in person how dedicated and passionate our students are,” SRVUSD Superintendent Dr. John Malloy said in a statement. “It is an incredible honor and we are so proud that they have been recognized in this way by the County Office of Education. These students are making an impact now and will continue to do so in their future.”
The students were part of 39 winners and 50 nominees from across the county who excelled in Career Technical Education courses, ranging from engineering, law enforcement, TV production, construction technology, and more. “Recognizing Students of Excellence for their hard work and dedication is not only exciting, but also a proud moment for the entire college and career readiness community,” Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey said in a statement. “The training these high school students receive helps Contra Costa County fill industry sector jobs in the future. Additionally, our CTE and ROP courses would not be successful without the phenomenal teachers in our county that provide networking opportunities with local businesses and work-based learning experiences our students need to be inspired and engaged.”
Winners and nominees were honored in a ceremony on May 9 at the Pleasant Hill Community Center. They received a certificate of merit and a $300 scholarship. Nominees received a gift card.
