San Ramon Teen Donates Over 2,000 Items To Nonprofits
Dougherty Valley student Srishreya Arunsaravanakumar's "The Livin' It Up" provides education and materials related to nutrition.

The following is a press release from The Livin' It Up:
SAN RAMON, CA — Srishreya Arunsaravanakumar, a student at Dougherty Valley High School, has established the nonprofit organization "The Livin’ It Up," dedicated to enhancing nutrition and wellness. At just 16 years old, Srishreya has already made a significant contribution to the community, donating over 2,000 items to various nonprofits and touching the lives of numerous individuals.
The inspiration for The Livin’ It Up stems from Srishreya's connection to nutrition and wellness.
Motivated by her father’s decade-long journey to reform her family’s dietary habits, she
developed a profound appreciation for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She recognized that access
to nutritious food and proper education on wellness are not universally available. This realization
ignited her desire to establish a platform that confronts these disparities head-on.

"Nutrition and wellness hold more significance than mere buzzwords for me; they are the
cornerstones of an improved life. Every individual deserves the opportunity to thrive, and that
begins with our dietary choices and self-care practices," Srishreya said.
Srishreya’s passion for sharing her nutrition and wellness knowledge with her community led her
to expand her nonprofit to her school in May 2022. She presented wellness and nutrition topics
to other students in her monthly club meetings. In December 2022, Srishreya met with the
principal of a K-12 school in rural India, where she conducted multiple nutrition and wellness
workshops. After her workshops in India, Srishreya donated 500 dollars to fund students’ school
uniforms for the year. This donation is what led her to go on a new venture in her mission to give
back - donating to those in need within her local community.

Srishreya made it her mission to conduct monthly donation drives gathering essential items
related to nutrition and wellness, subsequently donating them to various local nonprofits.
Ranging from non-perishable food items and fresh produce to hygiene products and educational
resources, the organization strives to bridge the gap between those with resources and those in
need. To support her monthly donations, Srishreya dedicates her weekends to restaurant service
and scholastic tutoring jobs. To date, her contributions, both in terms of funds and items, exceed
$1,000.
“After volunteering with other nonprofits for so many years, I feel so grateful I can directly help
people through my nonprofit. Even if I’m making a small change in my community, I’m still
making an impact on somebody’s life and that’s all that matters,” she said.
