San Ramon Teen Who Lost Grandfather to Cancer Organizes Bone Marrow Registry Drive

SAN RAMON, CA - If you've been meaning to get tested for the National Bone Marrow Registry, a local teen is making it easy for you.

Vivek Annadata has organized a Bone Marrow Registry Drive to be held at the Art & Wind Festival over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Annadata is a freshman at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon. “My first revelation about the nasty repercussions of cancer was when I lost my grandfather to a battle with renal cancer. Soon after, we faced overwhelming challenges in finding matching blood components to treat my great aunt's pancytopenia,” said Annadata.

“These incidents exposed me firsthand not only to the distress that cancer patients live through, but also the frustration and hopelessness of trying to find a donor match.”
The registry drive will be set up at the San Ramon Art & Wind Festival on May 29-30, 2016 from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. at the San Ramon Central Park, 12501 Alcosta Blvd, San Ramon.
