SRVUSD High School Among Top-Rated In CA: 2020 U.S. News Report
Three Tri-Valley high schools were ranked among the best in California by U.S. News & World Report.
SAN RAMON, CA — Attending high school in the age of the new coronavirus is an experience like no other in history, but U.S. News & World Report has kept up its rankings. Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon took 23rd place among all California high schools, according to the 2020 rankings.
Three Tri-Valley schools were ranked among the top 100 in California.
“The Best High Schools rankings provide the most comprehensive, data-based information on nearly every public high school in the country,” Anita Narayan, managing editor of Education at U.S. News, said in a news release. “Families can use this information to see how their local schools compare on graduation rates and state assessments, as well as academic performance by students who are traditionally underserved — those who are black, Hispanic or from low-income households.”

Here are the Tri-Valley high schools ranked by U.S. News in the top 100 in California:
- Dougherty Valley High School (San Ramon Valley Unified School District): 23rd place; 98 percent graduation rate; 70.9 college readiness; 3,212 enrollment
- Amador Valley High School (Pleasanton Unified School District): 48th place; 99 percent graduation rate; 70.3 college readiness; 2,673 enrollment
- Foothill High School (Pleasanton Unified School District): 52nd place; 99 percent graduation rate; 65.7 college readiness; 2,176 enrollment
No high schools in Dublin Unified School District or Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District made the top 100.

U.S. News used a number of weighted criteria to come up with the rankings, the most important being college readiness. You can see the full methodology here.
