SRVUSD 'Teachers Of Year' Set To Be Honored At Gala Dinner
Quail Run Elementary's Nusheen Saadat and Dougherty Valley's Athena Agustin will be honored at a gala dinner.
SAN RAMON, CA — Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey paid a visit Tuesday to the classroom of Nusheen Saadat at Quail Run Elementary School in San Ramon. Saadat has been teaching grades 1-2 at the campus since 2008. Prior, the 16-year teaching veteran taught at Hesperian Elementary in San Lorenzo and Tuckahoe Middle School in Eastchester, New York.
The superintendent wanted to catch up with Saadat because it's been a tradition: Throughout the school year, Mackey makes it a point to visit each incoming Teacher of the Year in their respective classrooms, before they are all honored at the annual Contra Costa County Teachers of the Year Gala Dinner. In March, Saadat was named by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District as its Teacher of the Year. Also picked for the honor was Dougherty Valley High School’s Athena Agustin.
“Nusheen and Athena are exemplary representatives of the excellence in teaching that takes place throughout the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Both are deeply dedicated to their work and provide tremendous support and encouragement to their students, as well as to their colleagues,” SRVUSD Superintendent Rick Schmitt. “They make the SRVUSD a better place to teach and learn. We are proud to honor them and their work.”
