SAN RAMON, CA — The San Ramon City Council will vote on a contract to make current Deputy City Manager Steven Spedowfski the interim city manager.

The council voted 5-0 in a closed session Tuesday to request a proposed contract for Spedowfski at their next meeting on Jan. 10. Spedowfski, a 20-year San Ramon employee and former Livermore councilmember, will succeed Joe Gorton, the former police chief who announced in September that he would retire in January. Gorton has served as city manager since 2017, following a four-year stint as SRPD chief.

“By a vote of 5-0, the city council has directed the city manager to bring a proposed contract to the next regular meeting of the city council appointing Steven Spedowfski as interim city manager beginning Jan. 10 2023,” Mayor Dave Hudson said in a closed meeting report Tuesday.
