Three Students Receive Bill Gregory Scholarships
Two graduating seniors from SRVHS and one from Cal High were awarded scholarships for exceptional community service.

SAN RAMON, CA — Three students received the Rotary Club of San Ramon Valley’s Bill Gregory Scholarship, which honors graduating seniors who demonstrate a commitment to community service. The scholarship, which is named after the club’s late founder, provides between $250 and $1000 to local high school students.
Gian Ciapponi is president of San Ramon Valley High School’s Associated Student Body, and holds many positions with the SRVUSD Student Senate. He is also an Eagle Scout who helped bring an “Every 15 Minutes” workshop on drunk driving to his school, and helps coach with East Bay Sports.
Mackenzie Michal of San Ramon Valley High School has volunteered over 200 hours at various charities and nonprofits like Meals on Wheels, Macedonia Outreach, Family House, Tri-Valley Animal Rescue, the Crayon Initiative, and the Contra Costa Food Bank. She has also led youth groups at her church and serves as vice president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is captain of SRVHS’s varsity cross country team, and the co-founder and co-president of the school’s Campus Cleanup Club.

Gangadhar Katragadda of California High School has volunteered with community service Interact Clubs for San Ramon Valley Rotary Club, Cal High, and the Rotary Club of Silicon Andhra. He has also volunteered for the Toastmasters International Gavel club, and worked with the Red Cross to help educate the community on smoke alarm safety. He earned an associate degree in computer science from Diablo Valley College while attending high school.
