More than two years after graduate Joey Rovero died in his sleep after taking a fatal cocktail of perscription drugs, a doctor has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the 21-year-old's death.
Hsiu-Ying "Lisa" Tseng, 42, was taken into custody by investigators from the state's Medical Board and was scheduled to make her first appearance at the downtown Los Angeles courthouse Friday.

Along with the death of Rovero, Tseng is being charged with second-degree murder for two others: Vu Nguyen, 29, of Lake Forest and Steven Ogle, 25, of Palm Desert. All three deaths occurred in 2009.

The San Ramon City Council voted 5-0 Tuesday night to approve a new schedule for the Fourth of July in Central Park. It will not include any fireworks, which has been a staple of San Ramon's Fourth of July celebration for more than 25 years.
The new event — called "Celebrate America, Celebrate San Ramon" — will start at 6 p.m. and go until 9 p.m. The city wants a patriotic feel, with the park decorated with flags and streamers. There will be live music by bands possibly including the San Ramon Symphonic Band. The city also wants to be part of the event.

Former Mayor Abram H. Wilson and former councilmember Carol Rowley were honored at San Ramon's City Council meeting Tuesday for their years of service to the city.
Wilson speech was most apolitical, thanking the people who he served with, but he did warn about the possible consequences of Walmart Neighborhood Market comung to San Ramon.
"We have to protect quality of life in San Ramon," Wilson said. "If you don't like them, don't patronize them. If you do, then do. But hold them accountable."

Twice a week at , about 260 kids come to school early and go for a run.
The running program is promoting healthy living, but it's also strengthening character.
