SAN RAMON VALLEY, CA — The San Ramon Valley Education Association plans to hold two town halls for members of the public who wish to learn more about its demands amid contract negotiations and how it wants to see the district change. SRVEA is the San Ramon Valley Unified School District's largest union and represents 1,688 teachers and specialists.

The first will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Feb. 26 at Dougherty Valley High School. The second will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m., March 12 at the San Ramon Valley High School library.

The union declared an impasse with the district and negotiations now head into the fact-finding stage, where three panelists will hear out both parties and present what they feel are the facts of the situation, said SRVEA President Ann Katzburg earlier this month.

If the district does not make an offer the union deems acceptable, SRVEA could authorize a strike.

The union wants more specialists and classroom size caps, but the district said its demands are too pricey.
