Track and Field: Cal's Frazier Finishes Fifth at State Meet in High Jump

Junior Elaine McVay finished 15th in the 3,200

California sophomore Noel Frazier finished fifth in the boys high jump final at the CIF State Track and Field Championships in Clovis on Saturday.

Frazier's best jump in the final, 6-feet, 7-inches, matched his personal best set in Friday's championship qualifier.

Frazier, the top qualifier, failed to clear 6-feet, 9-inches in the Saturday final.

Tyler Jordan from Ramona (San Diego) took the state title with a jump of 6-feet, 11-inches.

Two Cal Grizzlies competed in Saturday's girls 3200 meter final. Junior Elaine McVay finished 15th in 10:56.79 with senior Colleen Lillig crossing the line 11 seconds later in 20th.

That state final result flipped the script from one week earlier; Lillig took the title and out-finished McVay in second at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions.
