The US Club National Cup Finals began for San Ramon AZURI 95G on July 24 in Virginia Beach, Virg. Nationals started as more of a test of mental strength than physical strength for these California girls. Fighting through 100-degree plus record temperatures in Virginia, with extremely high humidity,  the AZURI 95G played extremely hard and proved to be the better team in three games of pool play.

Saturday's match was a 3-1 win against a strong Massachusetts team. Sunday's game resulted in a 1-1 draw against an aggressive and well-composed Hawaii team. Monday's temps finally cooled off a bit (15-18 degrees cooler) and AZURI 95G could finally show what they were capable of in a 5-0 win over a very physical New Jersey team, which granted the AZURI a berth in the finals on Tuesday.

Tuesday's Championship game was one of pure domination in almost all aspects of the game. AZURI 95G dominated the first half holding South Florida scoreless in 40 minutes of play. Working through a long injury break before the 2nd half, AZURI fought hard but unfortunately lost 2-0, taking 2nd place in the National Finals.

Making it to the finals of any tournament is a tremendous accomplishment. Making it to the finals of a National Championship is a completely different level of success. Congratulations AZURI 95G.
